God is Alive:
Behind the creation of the universe and life in this world stands the fact that God has always existed. He has revealed Himself through His infallible Word and in the person of Jesus Christ to be Father, Son and Spirit. He is totally kind, loving and caring. He is irreproachable in His deeds and judgments because they proceed from His perfectly holy and righteous character. No gracious gift is too much to expect from Him, yet no sin is too little to be judged by Him if not confessed and repented of.
Man is Dead:
In all creation there is none more valuable than man. Man is created in the Image of God, male and female, with the divine purpose of loving, living and ruling with God in all His royalty, majesty and ever-loving kindness. These truths prove the incomparable uniqueness of man and the very purpose of his life, outside of which all is vanity. However, the first man, Adam, being tempted by Satan who is a liar and the father of lies, sinned by willingly rejecting this relationship by disobeying God’s decrees, thereby incurring the penalty of physical and spiritual death. Therefore as sin came into the world through one man and death through sin, so death spread to all men because all men sinned. This sin hopelessly separated man from God, his corrupt and rebellious heart being incompatible with the purity of God.
God Gives Back Life in Jesus Christ:
God loves man very much and set forth the plan of salvation in which there would be a substitution of “life for life”. But from where could such a worthy sacrifice come? Certainly not from animals that are less than man, nor from man himself, for all are sinful. Thus the Divine and Only Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, willingly left His eternal glory in heaven to be born of a virgin in the likeness of human flesh. He, as a perfect sinless man, literally God in the flesh, gave His life’s blood on the cross in exchange for our life, making full payment for our sins and ushering in forgiveness and salvation. His physical resurrection and ascension into Heaven and imminent return are proof that the penalty for sin has been paid. We receive this great salvation as a gift through obedient belief in the person and blood of Christ. This constitutes mankind’s only ground of acquittal from the righteous judgment of God against sin. All who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved; they shall inherit the Kingdom of God. Water baptism witnesses to these truths and is the sign of this New Covenant. Those who reject the person and blood of Christ overlook the severity of God’s judgment on sin as displayed on the cross and remain guilty for their sins. They shall not inherit the Kingdom of God, but rather, suffer eternal death.
New Life in Christ Matures in the Context of the Local Church:
Those who believe in and obey the Lord Jesus constitute His Church. They have received the fullness of God’s spirit through whom the Lord Jesus lives, reigns, empowers and gifts. This results in a life of worship and power to unchain the souls of men, rip down strongholds of darkness, and heal the sicknesses and sorrows of mankind. The life of Christ Jesus in the believer is nurtured through the proper functioning of the local church in teaching, prayer and fellowship, and is protected and guarded through discerning participation in the Lord’s Supper and water baptism. Christ’s new life in the believer will properly mature with committed involvement in these areas, and the Church will attain its hallmark of Faith, Hope and Love as it awaits the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, putting on the whole armor of God, and standing against the wiles of the Devil, the church will advance the cause of Christ, baptizing and making disciples of all nations, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
